Summary of Degree Requirements

University Requirements

  • 数学0701 (4 s.h.)和/或 0701年英格 (4 s.h.), if required by placement testing.
  • All Temple students must take a minimum of two writing-intensive courses as part of the 主要. The specific courses that will fulfill this requirement are 2196年助理4096年助理.

College of Liberal 艺术 Requirements

  • Completion of a minimum of 123 credits, including:
    • 90 credits in CLA/CST courses;
    • 45 credits of which must be at the upper level (numbered 2000-4999).
      • Social Science 主要s, 6 upper level credits (numbered 2000-4999) must be taken in Humanities Subject Areas: Arabic, 中国人, 英语, 法国, 德国, 希腊(古代), Greek 和 Roman Classics, 希伯来语, 北印度语, 意大利, 日本, 拉丁, 哲学, 宗教, 俄罗斯, 和 西班牙语 in the College of Liberal 艺术, Art 历史 in the Tyler School of Art 和 Architecture, or any department in the College of Science 和 Technology.
    • A minimum GPA of 2.0, cumulatively, in CLA/CST coursework, 和 in the 主要.
    • Only courses in which a student receives a grade of at least C- can satisfy GenEd, 主要, 小, or CLA 为eign Language 和 Global Studies requirements.
    • 专业 Development Requirement
      • All students in the College of Liberal 艺术 are required to take a 1 credit seminar in professional development. 班1002 专业 Development for Liberal 艺术 Majors is the appropriate course option for this 主要. Other courses that fulfill this requirement may be found on the CLA College Requirements page. Only one course in this category may count towards graduation.
    • 为eign Language/Global Studies Requirements:
      • The language requirement of the Asian Studies 主要 exceeds the minimum requirements of the College of Liberal 艺术; no additional coursework is required.
      • Notes on 为eign Language Study
        • The third level of language is numbered 1003 in 法国, 西班牙语, 和 Portuguese 和 numbered 2001 in all other foreign language subjects.
        • Students are strongly encouraged to take the third level of a foreign language as it is the minimum required for election to the prestigious honor society Phi Beta Kappa. (Taking the course does not guarantee admission but not taking it guarantees exclusion.)

Asian Language Requirement: The language requirement may be satisfied by coursework (not proficiency) in an Asian language. Heritage speakers will satisfy the four-course requirement by taking advanced courses in their language or by taking a different Asian language.
